Ballet

(Pre-Ballet: Age 3-4; Ballet 1: Age 5-7; Ballet 2: Age 8-10;
Ballet 3: Age 11-13; Ballet 4: Age 13+)

Ballet is the foundation for all other styles of dance. Students will work on body alignment, technique, flexibility, terminology, and class etiquette. Classes will include both barre and center work. We strongly recommend ballet classes for any dancer of any level, as a proper ballet education will enable students to perform with grace and poise and execute movements with precision and control.

Contemporary

(Contemporary 1: Age 5-7; Contemporary 2: Age 8-10;
Contemporary 3: Age 11-13; Contemporary 4: Age 13+)

Originally a fusion style that draws from classical, modern, and jazz elements, contemporary dance has evolved to incorporate many other different styles of dance as well. Students will work with improvisation, musicality, technique, creativity, partner work, and much more. Contemporary dance is a style that focuses on ideas and expression and empowers dancers to interact with the free, expressive, artistic side of their inner performer.

MUSICAL THEATER

(Age 5+)
In musical theater, dancers are actors. Rooted in the history of Broadway musicals, musical theater involves becoming a character, immersing oneself in a different world, and bringing that experience to the audience. Musical theater is especially a great style of dance to have training in for students who may be considering a possible dance career in the future.

HIP-HOP

(Hip Hop 1: Age 5-7; Hip Hop 2: Age 8-10;
Hip Hop 3: Age 11-13; Hip Hop 4: Age 13+)

The street and underground origins of hip hop dance mean that the style evolved without formal process and with plenty of improvisation. Traditional elements of hip hop include breaking, popping, locking, and free-styling while contemporary hip hop also includes styles like funk, soul, and R&B. Hip hop dance developed parallel to hip hop music, so students will work on their own unique musical interpretation while also working on mastering clear execution of movements and free expression of personality.

JAZZ

(Jazz 1: Age 5-7; Jazz 2: Age 8-10;
Jazz 3: Age 11-13; Jazz 4: Age 13+)

A heavily rhythmic and energetic style of dance, jazz pulls from modern, African, ballet, acrobatics, and other styles and continues to evolve. Today, contemporary jazz has a high commercial value and is also a crowd-favorite, made popular by shows like So You Think You Can Dance. Jazz’s entertaining attitudes and movements are fun to both watch and perform. Jazz dancers must possess great balance, muscular control, coordination, flexibility, musicality, technique, and personality.
